    ICSI

    ICSI

    ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) is a progressive ART method that maximizes the effectiveness of IVF protocols.

    The essence of the method is that pre-selected and prepared sperm is injected into the cytoplasm of the egg. That is, the embryologist reproduces the process of natural conception under a microscope, controlling all stages as much as possible.

    The ICSI procedure has long-established itself in the field of reproductive medicine precisely due to its maximum efficiency. This is achieved due to the fact that each stage, from preparation to completion, is supervised as much as possible by a specialist.

    The first stage is the selection of cells. The reproductive physician, using a puncture, extracts eggs from the patient’s body, which are immediately transferred to the embryologist. After cleaning, the embryologist examines and selects mature eggs ready for fertilization. It’s the same with semen. The best, morphologically correct and healthy cells are selected from the sperm portion.

    The second stage is fertilization. Since this is a controlled process, one sperm is always used per egg. This reduces the loss of oocytes, comparable to the natural process when the cell cannot be fertilized or damaged.

    The third stage is to control the development of embryos. Fertilized eggs are placed in a nutrient medium and transferred to a special incubator, where the development of the embryo will begin.

    The use of this method has another significant advantage. Opportunity to become a father for men with sperm quality problems. Until recently, sperm donation was recommended in such cases. However, now for fertilization, it is enough to obtain single spermatozoa. In cases where sperm cannot be found in semen, testicular or epididymal biopsy is used to find individual sperm in the tissues so that the man can become the biological father.

    When should ICSI be done?

    · Sperm has a low fertilizing capacity, which can be expressed in a small number of sperm in the seminal fluid, their immobility, a high content of pathological sperm, etc.;

    · The ejaculate does not contain or contains minimal active and healthy sperm;

    · Features of the structure of the ovum, which may be due to the woman’s age (as a rule, after 40 years of age the egg shell becomes denser, which does not allow sperm to penetrate inside even with normal activity);

    In its work, the clinic Lada uses the ICSI method in all IVF protocols, which helps us achieve excellent results.
